It is this weekend, at Laguna-Seca, that Franck Montagny will make his return to competition. The Frenchman will indeed compete in the third round of the American Le Mans Series. A championship that he knows well, having distinguished himself in 2008 at the wheel of an Acura ARX-01b, with an overall victory at Belle-Isle ahead of Audi and the Porsche Penske. The ARX-01b, in fact, is the grandmother of the ARX-03b that he will pilot this week. Note that Franck is registered on the two cars entered by Scott Tucker.
“I haven't met Scott yet, but I've heard a lot of good things about this team, especially the success they've had over the years, underlines the former resident of Peugeot Sport. The Level 5 team seems to have achieved all the goals they set for themselves, and when you join such a team, it's always very motivating. You want to be part of this success. I have good memories at Laguna Seca, but I always prefer to look to the future rather than the past. This track may not be Monaco, but it's a great place in the United States. A place where it’s good to shine.”
As for boss Scott Tucker, he has once again secured the services of a talented driver. “Franck comes with great experience, underlines the latter. Getting to grips with our HPD LMP2 and the Dunlop tires shouldn't take much time. We know we have a great package, and our driver line-up couldn't be better. But we know the race will be tough, as always. The longer format (6 a.m. Editor’s note) and night driving will be a very good rehearsal for us for Le Mans (June 16-17. Editor’s note). With Sebring, this is one of the rare opportunities to ride at night, and we intend to make the most of it.”
The crews of the two HPD ARX-03b from Level 5 Motorsports for this weekend are therefore as follows:
No. 95: Franck Montagny-Luis Diaz-Scott Tucker
No. 055: Franck Montagny-Christophe Bouchut-Scott Tucker
