ALMS – Jani: “One goal, to win Petit Le Mans”

Facing a swift HPD ARX 03a entered by a Muscle Milk Pickett Racing team for whom the American tracks hold no secrets, the mission was not simple. But by completing a lap of the Road Atlanta circuit in 1'09"089, Neel Jani took pole position for the 2012 edition of the Petit Le Mans, final round of the ALMS (American Le Mans Series) and theELMS (European Le Mans Series). Le Suisse, qui partage le volant de la Lola B12/60-Toyota n°12 avec Nicolas Cheers and Andrea Belicchi, was four tenths ahead of the HPD n°6 of the Lucas Luhr-Klaus Graf-Romain Dumas trio. Note that the first two named and Muscle Milk Pickett Racing are playing this weekend for the crown of the American championship organized by Don Panoz against the Lola B12/60-Mazda Dyson Racing of Chris Dyson-Guy Smith-Steven Kane.

Rebellion Racing is obviously a candidate for victory in Georgia. But with the heaviest traffic and a 1000 mile (or 10 hour) test, be careful, nothing is over. “American circuits are very demanding for drivers who have to push their limits to go faster, Jani points out. There are a lot of people on the circuit and the race is always the occasion for a great party. We will not interfere in the final battle between Muscle Milk and Dyson Racing for the ALMS championship title. We came here with one goal: to win Petit Le Mans.” “Before the qualifying session, we were confident in our ability to achieve pole position, continues Bart Hayden, the team manager. It was mostly about finding a clear turn. However, the gap with the other cars is small. We know the race will be difficult. Congratulations to Neel for achieving pole. »

The start of the race will be at 11:30 a.m. local time (17:30 p.m. French time).
