ALMS – The DeltaWing is back on track

“Every time we drive, the car becomes more and more reliable. » Katherine Legge had reason to be satisfied last weekend, at the end of the sixth round of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) 2013 on the Road America circuit. At the wheel of the DeltaWing, the British driver particularly distinguished herself in the race, taking control of the general classification on the 20th lap. A position that she held for 8 laps, before the HPD ARX-03c n°6 of Muscle Milk Pickett Racing, shared by Lucas Luhr and Klaus Graf took the advantage.

But the DeltaWing won't stop there. With Andy Meyrick at the helm, the prototype will take the lead in the general classification and lead the proceedings for another 8 laps. If, in the end, it was Muscle Milk Pickett Racing which, as usual, won, "the wing" finished in a promising 5th place overall, in the same lap as the winners. A first this season, she who had never reached the finish line this year until this meeting in Wisconsin. “We started to show how revolutionary this car can be, and we showed what DeltaWing excellence means.”, underlined Legge.

“We are happy and at the same time a little disappointed, because I seriously think we could have gotten second place overall, added Andy Meyrick. Being disappointed because we didn't finish second shows how far the project is progressing! » Progress which will however be put on hold during the Baltimore Grand Prix, which takes place at the end of the month, to which the DeltaWing will not attend. To see the prototype evolve again, you will have to wait until the Austin round, on the Circuit of the Americas, on the weekend of September 21.
