ALMS – Lime Rock: Muscle Milk confirms, Porsche surprises

The break of almost two months has not caused Muscle Milk Racing to lose good habits. Greg Picket's team indeed won the fourth round of the American at Lime Rock last night Le Mans Series. Lucas Luhr and Klaus Graf claim their third victory in a row. But for that, they will have had to spit in their gloves. After 45 minutes, Luhr had to pit for a gearbox problem, losing no less than four laps in the process. Finally, we just had to reset the electronic system. And the two men were not at the end of their trouble, since their recovery was disrupted by a penalty for excessive speed in the pit lane. But with great effort, they managed to steal the reins of the event 30 minutes from time at Lola Dyson Racing, after Graf took the advantage over Guy Smith, the pole sitter.

Comme à son habitude, le GT a été très disputé, notamment entre la Porsche n°45 du Flying Lizard Motorsports, les deux Corvette officielles et la Ferrari 458 Extreme Speed Motorsport cutting edge. In the end, the first named wins thanks to their inseparable duo Patrick Long-Jorg Bergmeister. The latter also took the opportunity to pocket his sixth victory at Lime Rock in seven appearances, and this for his 100th start in this championship. The two Corvettes complete the podium, with Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia second ahead of Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner.

Already at its advantage in qualifying, the HPD ARX 03b of Level 5 Motorsports n°055 confirmed in the race. The American team won its fourth victory in as many races, this time thanks to an impeccable performance from the Christophe Bouchut-Scott Tucker pair. The Franco-American duo is all the more deserving as they had to start at the back of the pack.

In LM PC, victory went to the Oreca 09 FLM Core Autosport of Colin Braun and Jon Bennett, with the Alex Job Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup of Cooper MacNeil and Leh Keen doing the same in GTC. As is customary, ALMS competitors will race one after the other this summer. Next meeting in Mosport, Canada, in two weeks.
