ALMS – Pagenaud sparkling at Road America, Viper takes his first victory

It was one of the most anticipated rounds of the season. The sixth race of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) 2013, contested on the Road America circuit (Wisconsin), kept all its promises. If in LM P1 the HPD ARX-03c n°6 of Muscle Milk Pickett Racing entrusted to the pair Klaus Graf – Lucas Luhr once again logically, and unsurprisingly, imposed itself, the category was for once rather lively… Thanks to the DeltaWing of Katherine Legge and Andy Meyrick, who led the debates for a while, and who finished the event with a 5th place overall! The podium is completed by the No. 12 Dyson Racing Lola B60/16 driven by Tony Burgess and Chris McMurry and the No. 09 Oreca 9 FLM of Bruno Junqueira-Duncan Ende, who at the same time took the victory. in LM PC.

In the LM P2, the HPD ARX-03b n°551 from Level 5 Motorsports won the prize in the hands of simon pagenaud and the American Scott Tucker. Replacing Ryan Briscoe, injured in his right wrist, the Frenchman accomplished his task marvelously, and allowed his teammate, the team's boss-driver, to take back the reins in the Drivers' standings. It is also the fifth victory in six races for Level 5, which narrowly missed the double, after the No. 552, entrusted to Marino Franchitti, Ricardo Gonzalez and Scott Tucker, who drives his two cars, started to run out of fuel.

Another great show in GT

As usual, the GTs offered breathtaking suspense. And a result that will go down in history, since the SRT Viper GTS-R won the first victory in its history. The last success of a Viper in ALMS was in 2000! It was the No. 91 of the Belgian Marc Goossens and the German Dominik Farnbacher which managed, thanks to a strategy as daring as it was risky, to beat the two official Corvette C6.R ZR1s to the finish, the No. 3 by Jan Magnussen-Antonio Garcia preceding Tommy Milner-Oliver Gavin No. 4.

Partis depuis la pole position, Nelson Canache, Jr. et Spencer Pumpelly ont offert à leur Porsche GT3 Cup n°45 une nouvelle victoire en GTC.
