In 2022, Andretti Autosport should not experience any major upheaval, just like in 2023. Next year, the Indianapolis-based team will continue its prototype business in the LM P3 category. Jarett Andretti and Josh Burdon will be entered full-time aboard the No. 320 Ligier JS P36 while Gabby Chaves and Rasmus Lindh will join them for the 24 Hours of Daytona (January 29-30).
« I can't wait for this new experience, rejoices Jarett Andretti. I think we have a very good crew and the team is ready. This is a historic competition and we are all excited to be a part of it."
But this was not the strongest announcement from Andretti Autosport which confirmed that it wanted to set up an LMDh program in the future. “ We really want to do it, indicated boss Michael Andretti who is looking for a builder for this project. This would not be a program for 2023 but for 2024. We are very interested and we hope to be able to put something together soon."
After the LM P3, the Formula E, the Extreme E, theIndyCar or even Australian Supercars, Andretti Autosport could therefore launch into a new category: LMDh. “ It's very profitable for a manufacturer now whereas previously we used to say 'He who has the most money will win', continues Michael Andretti. Now, spending will be limited. I think it will improve the level of the series. There will be a lot of interest."
