For Antonio Garcia, this success had a very special flavor. The Spaniard had not hidden his frustration from previous years in this event: a pole position without a victory in 2024 and sufficient pace but an unbeatable Ford in 2025. This time, no hitches. I'm super happy to be on Victory Lane in Chevrolet territory, under the RenCen tower " he said upon arrival, with a thought for the brand's leaders present this weekend.

The team's strategy worked perfectly. Alexander Sims, who had secured pole position, delivered a near-perfect first stint. The Briton strung together clean laps to build a comfortable gap before returning to the pits. The Corvette was performing really well in this first part of the race " he confided, acknowledging however a certain nervousness at the start, as the Detroit circuit leaves little room for error.

Garcia then inherited a favorable position, but one far from pressure-free. The end of the race became lively with the usual chaos of restarts and battles to avoid overtaking. The Spaniard notably had to deal with oil on the track in turn 3, finding himself at the front of the pack with no visibility of what lay ahead.

Beyond the two drivers, the entire Pratt Miller and Chevrolet team is celebrating. Sims was keen to emphasize the extent of the work done on the No. 3 car, which required more optimization than its sister car, No. 4. The real difficulty in this situation is that everything falls perfectly into place and you almost get the feeling that you can only lose " he summarized, before concluding: Very, very happy and proud of the whole team. »

Next appointment for Corvette in IMSA : the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen, on June 28th.
