Aston Martin returns to IMSA

The grids of theIMSA welcome Aston Martin in 2020. The Heart of Racing will enter a Vantage GT3 in the GTD category, which will allow the British manufacturer to return to the American championship for the first time since 2017 when an older version of this model was entered for the Lime Rock race Park, Connecticut.

“There are so many exciting things coming up in 2020. It’s a great opportunity to drive with the Aston Martin brand in North America, comments Ian James, the project director. The car has performed well all over the world in 2019. The Heart of Racing and Aston Martin have both been absent from IMSA so we will have a lot to live up to. However, we have no illusions about the level of the series with all these teams and its very qualified drivers. »

“The USA represents a huge market for Aston Martin Racing and it is fantastic news to see The Heart of Racing return to IMSA with one of our Vantage GT3s, adds Aston Martin Racing president David King. The success of the new Vantage in its first year on sale means exciting future programs around the world for next year and we see this team as a pillar in our overall strategy for the US market in 2020.”

Aston Martin could soon be taken over by Lawrence Stroll, the Canadian businessman who drives his son Lance in F1.
