Audi takes on Peugeot at Petit Le Mans

On September 26, Audi will field two crews at the wheel of Audi R15 TDIs for the penultimate American Le Mans Series event at Petit Le Mans on the Road Atlanta circuit. For the first time since 24 Hours of Le Mans last June, the Joest team will again compete against the team's 908 HDi Peugeot Sport who confirmed his participation in the ALMS event in mid-August.

For the third time this season, the two flagship endurance manufacturers will face each other. After Sebring at the start of the year which saw Audi triumph, the French manufacturer was able to respond by winning THE major endurance event of the season: the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This time, Audi will present itself with two crews composed of Dindo Capello and Allan McNish on the one hand and Lucas Luhr and Marco Werner on the other.

« The race at Road Atlanta already marks the first step in our preparation for the 24 2010 Hours of Le Mans », explains Doctor Wolfgang Ullrich, head of Audi?s competition department. “ We want to use this opportunity to allow our engineers to know more about the new Audi R15 TDI in a competition against our main rivals. Many parameters can be simulated during track tests but nothing will replace the experience accumulated during races. »
