Mixed results for Peugeot

The very beginning of this third and final day of testing is marked by the event of the day, which the team would have gladly done without Peugeot , since the 908 No. 8 was the victim of an exit from the track on its first lap.

Indeed, while the prototypes were just entering the track, the red flag was immediately waved by the marshals following the exit from the track between the sixth and seventh turns of the 908 of the Sarrazin/Montagny/ crew.Bourdais. Indeed, Sébastien Bourdais lost control of the Peugeot, trapped by the still cold tires, and hit the wall on the right side on the first lap. Fortunately for him and the team, the damage is only superficial and the car can quickly be repaired, with a view to taking part in the first free practice session tomorrow.

Only one 908 took part in the session with Nicolas Minassian at the wheel, but it will have the merit of compensating for the setbacks of the No. 8 by setting the best time of the day, in 1:44.555. The No. 7 therefore finished ahead of the two Audi R15s, which for their part completed the passages in 1:45.

On the Acura side, De Ferran Motorsports continues to gain momentum despite gearbox problems yesterday morning. Scott Dixon managed to keep pace with the second place and set his best time at the end of the session, just over a second off the reference time. For Patron-Highcroft Racing it's a little more complicated, since the second Acura ARX-02 did not manage to go below 1:48 once. Suffice it to say that a gulf separates her from her twin…

In LMP2, the #16 Lola-Mazda is still the one and only running on the track, with a level similar to that displayed yesterday. His time is once again over 1:50. Which confirms that the weight of the LMP2s, associated with smaller flanges, will definitely be a big handicap this season.

In GT1, the No. 3 Corvette logically beat the No. 4, since the latter was forced to end its session prematurely, following a slight collision with the Highcroft Racing Acura.

Du côté du GT2, Gimmi Bruni devance une nouvelle fois la Porsche du Farnbacher-Loles Racing de huit dixièmes. Juste derrière, on retrouve la Ferrari of the Risi Competizione followed by the Porsche of the Flying Lizard, itself closely followed by the BMW M3s.
