This time, it's official. BMW will in turn enter the LMDh category, following on from the already announced programs of Porsche, Audi or even Acura, with the objective of presenting themselves at the start of the 24 2023 Hours of Daytona, the traditional opening event of theIMSA.

Flat out into the future: BMW M Motorsport will compete for LMDh glory from 2023.

An announcement which follows the Instagram post published yesterday by Markus Flach, boss of the M Motorsport branch, and which we talk about in issue 2315 of AUTOhebdo.

After the end of the GTLM / GTE program with the M8, this commitment necessarily recalls the heyday of the propeller brand in Endurance, with the climax of the victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1999 with the legendary V12 LMR.

Such a presence across the Atlantic also suggests that the 24 Hours of Le Mans remains in the sights of Munich, the LMDh being authorized to compete in the premier Hypercar category, alongside cars meeting this specific regulation, chosen by Toyota, Peugeot or even Glickenhaus.
