The mission of a third consecutive podium after Sebring and Long Beach seemed difficult for BMW with the two prototypes starting from the back of the GTP group, from 7th and 8th places.

Les deux GTP de Munich (Allemagne) ont pourtant réussi à se glisser dans la lutte pour le podium, les n°24 et 25 se retrouvant notamment dans une bataille spectaculaire avec une Porsche et l’Acura du Meyer Shank Racing.

Unfortunately for the Bavarian firm, the two cars were unable to keep up the pace until the end and had to settle for 5th and 8th places at the finish of the race.

«  This is not the result we were hoping for, admitted Andreas Roos, boss of BMW M Motorsport after the event. After not perfect qualifying, we were able to improve the cars and show a good performance in the race, but we could not fight for a top position towards the end. Thanks to the drivers, the entire BMW M Team RLL team and BMW M Motorsport for their efforts. Congratulations to Turner Motorsport and drivers Bill Auberlen and Chandler Hull for their second place finish in the GTD class. »

« Our race was good, added Augusto Farfus, driver of the No. 8 BMW M Hybrid V25 (5th). I think we had a good tire strategy. Philipp (Eng) ran the first set long so I had two sets to finish. Ultimately, heavy traffic made progress difficult and luck just wasn't on our side. We started P8 and finished P5 – purely on pace – so we leave with quite a few positives. »

Next meeting for BMW in IMSA : Watkins Glen from June 22 to 25.
