BMW continues the path towards its comeback in Endurance announced last June. After confirming that he would join the championship IMSA with two cars, the German manufacturer has revealed more details about its program.
If Porsche and Audi decided to partner with Multimatic for their LMDh chassis, BMW for its part knocked on Dallara’s door. “ With Dallara, we are delighted to have found a partner for our LMDh project who shares our passion, our professionalism and our enormous ambition in motorsport and who, like us, is fully committed to the goal of writing a new success story in the history of BMW M Motorsport from 2023, admits Markus Flasch, CEO of BMW M, with a smile.
After speaking to every possible chassis partner, the deciding factor in our decision was that Dallara, with all its expertise and experience, was enthusiastic about working with BMW M Motorsport. There was good chemistry from the start. We view our relationship as a true partnership in which we strive for a common goal, success on the track ».
BMW's first test car will be built in Italy in " close collaboration » between a team of engineers from M Motorsport and another from Dallara brought together for the BMW LMDh project. The launch will be made next year on the Varano track in Italy. The German firm will then return to the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2023.
