BMW aims for a 4th victory in a row in ALMS

Joey Hand and Dirk Müller took their third consecutive victory in American Le Mans Series at Lime Rock. One more success which allows the duo to have a 33-point lead in the general classification over their closest pursuers, and BMW Team RLL to prance at the top of the Teams' championship with 29 points ahead of Corvette Racing. This weekend, on the Canadian Mosport track, the goal will be to strike a big blow. A 4th victory in a row would be very difficult to digest for the propeller firm's opponents.

“Although we have had a very good start to the 2011 financial year, this weekend at Mosport promises to be very difficult for our team, emphasizes Bobby Rahal. We are confident in our settings and our drivers, but we have not managed to glean the results we hoped for here during our previous visits. We will work hard to change that this weekend. We've had a very good start to the season, but in this championship you can't afford to let your guard down for a minute. »

“This fabulous year continues: Three races, three victories, jubilant for his part Joey Hand. Our BMW M3 will be strong in the fast corners of Mosport. I was asked if my strategy would be changed because of our lead in the championship, but I don't think we're at that stage yet. » A desire to achieve the successes shared by his teammate Dirk Müller. “We want to pick up where we left off, and we are going to do everything we can to ensure that after three consecutive victories, we are once again on the top step of the GT podium in Canada. However, we are also aware that the competition does not sleep. We are extremely motivated. »

Their stablemates Dirk Werner-Bill Auberlen, the Corvette Boys as well as the Porche and Ferrari are indeed not ready to make their task easier, and have not yet given up their hopes of the crown. The BMW M3s have every interest in shining in Canada, because from the following round (Mid-Ohio on August 5), they will see the diameter of their air intake flanges decrease by 4mm following this (too) good start of the season.
