Bryan Herta Autosport, a team that notably won the Indianapolis 500 twice (2011 and 2016), announced on Thursday, March 20, its intention to relocate its operations to Indiana. Its new global headquarters will be established in Brownsburg, where new jobs, including engineering and mechanic positions, will be created.

« We are excited to make Brownsburg our new permanent address, says Bryan Herta. Many top American racing teams across many disciplines have called it home, and we've already found the city to be an ideal location to write the next chapter in our team's history. As we continue to expand and take on new challenges, this location will allow us to continue competing at the highest level and provide a turnkey solution for our future growth and expansion. »

The company plans to invest more than $2,1 million to upgrade the 3-square-meter facility in Brownsburg, transforming the building into its state-of-the-art racing headquarters. This facility will serve as the operational base for Bryan Herta Autosport's current programs, including theIndyCar and IMSA, as well as for other future racing projects. The company plans to be fully operational in Brownsburg by fall 2025.

Bryan Herta Autosport, future partner of Genesis in IMSA?

With this new investment, is Bryan Herta Autosport preparing for a future entry into IMSA's GTP category? Official North American partner of Hyundai Motorsport, the BHA team plays a key role in the Hyundai N TCR program in the Michelin Pilot Challenge. While the South Korean brand will launch its Hypercar program in WEC next season, then in IMSA in 2027, the former American driver's team would be a logical partner to run the GMR-001 in the North American championship.Endurance.

Could such a collaboration, if confirmed, bring Robert Wickens behind the wheel of the South Korean Hypercar? The Canadian won the Michelin Pilot Challenge in 2023 in a Hyundai Elantra TCR alongside Harry Gottsacker for the Bryan Herta Autosport team. After losing the use of his legs in an IndyCar accident at Pocono in 2018, Wickens will contest five IMSA sprint rounds this season in a Corvette Z06 GT3.R from the DXDT Racing team with a Bosch-developed wheel-brake system, derived from the one he used in TCR with Hyundai.

This new manually controlled braking system has many elements from the LMDh and would therefore have its place in the cockpit of a GTP category prototype. I think it offers opportunities. Racing in LMDh or GTP will always be my ultimate goal. ", Wickens had also declared in September of last year to our colleagues at Sportscar365.
