Despite having won almost every possible title in Endurance in 2024, Porsche does not rest on its laurels. In addition to using a joker on his proto, the German manufacturer has decided to apply certain modifications to its crews for 2025, both in IMSA whether WEC.

The 2024 IMSA champions, Felipe Nasr and Dane Cameron, will no longer be a team in 2025. The Brazilian will indeed be associated with Nick Tandy, who until now was racing in the No. 6 alongside Frenchman Mathieu Jaminet. The Lorraine native will be reunited next season with his partner Matt Campbell.

Two men who know each other rather well, since they won the 2022 title in GTD Pro with Pfaff Motorsport, with the added bonus of a victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona at the end of a breathless last lap with a final battle between the Frenchman and Laurens Vanthoor.

After this success in Florida, the two men had a full season in GTD Pro with a total of five victories and eight podiums in nine races. They had logically won the title while Porsche was preparing at the same time its return to prototype with the 963. The two men obviously hoped to be associated in this program to continue their momentum.

Campbell and Jaminet: the return of a winning duo?

« This is what we asked Porsche, Mathieu Jaminet confessed to us in September 2022. We've had results together, we've had a lot of fun and our duo really works, on and off the track. He's not just a teammate, we've really become friends. Honestly, I'm not sure it's going to happen. There are pros and cons. We work very well together, with the same set-up, but on the other hand it means putting the two youngest drivers together, with no prototype experience. That's also something to consider. There's also the possibility that we're both in IMSA, but split between the two cars. I don't know what they're going to decide. »

The Stuttgart firm finally chose the latter solution, aligning the two friends in the North American championship, but in different cars. Jaminet thus found himself with Nick Tandy on the n°6, while Matt Campbell was associated with Felipe Nasr on the n°7. Still no association between the two men in 2024, since the Frenchman was still accompanied by Tandy, while Campbell was sent to compete in the World Endurance Championship.

It is finally in 2025 that the two friends will team up again. We proved to the brand and the team that we were both competitive and working at a very high level.u, Jaminet declares on the IMSA website. I think they understood that they had to give us a chance. The last time we raced together, we won a championship. »

« We have had good results so far with the prototype and I think we are a good addition to the Porsche Penske Motorsport program., adds Campbell. We have always had a lot of success and good results together as teammates. No matter what championship we were in, we were always at the forefront, fighting for the title and also for victories. I hope we can do something similar next year. »

See you on January 25th with the 24 Hours of Daytona for a first element of an answer.
