Christian Fittipaldi will no longer drive a Prototype in IMSA after the next 24 Hours of Daytona in January 2019.

Christian Fittipaldi will take a step back after Daytona

Pillar of Action Express Racing's commitment to IMSA, Christian fittipaldi will take a step back with the role of driver at its highest at the end of the 24 2019 Hours of Daytona (January 26-27).

The Brazilian, nephew of the double world champion, had quickly enjoyed success at the start of his career in car with the title F3000 in 1991 before accessing the F1 the following year with Minardi for two seasons, before moving to Footwork in 1994. Two fourth places constitute his best result at this level.

It was then in CART that Christian Fittipaldi continued his career until 2002. Second at the Indy 500 in his first year, the native of São Paulo won two successes in the series at Road America in 1999 and Fontana in 2000. After a stint in Nascar, it is in endurance that the Paulist will sign his greatest victories.

Regularly competing in endurance since 2003, in American Le Mans Series, in Grand-Am then in IMSA, Fittipaldi notably won the 24 Hours of Daytona three times (2004, 2014 and 2018), the 12 Hours of Sebring or Petit Le Mans in 2015. He will be crowned in IMSA in 2014 and 2015

Sporting director of Action Express Racing since the start of this year, Fittipaldi remained committed to the rounds Endurance of the season, he who remains quadruple champion of the North American Endurance Cup since 2014.

“Everything in life has a beginning, a middle and an end and I am at the beginning of this stage of my career and my commitment at this level, says Fittipaldi. All I can say is that this trip was awesome.
