The Brazilian duo is thus returning to the title race with just three meetings remaining before the end of the 2021 season. With good momentum (the only crew to have won two consecutive races this year), Nasr-Derani are only 41 points behind the DPi leaders, Filipe Albuquerque and Ricky Taylor (Cadillac), who had to settle for fourth place at Road America.

“We had a fantastic weekend, it was perfect, recognizes Pipo Derani. I focused on saving fuel during my final stint, which worked. » The English Harry Tincknell and Oliver Jarvis (Mazda) finished 1''5 behind, the podium being completed by Renger Van der Zande and Kevin Magnussen (Cadillac).

The first Frenchman classified is Olivier Pla, fifth with the Meyer Shane Racing Acura DPi with Dane Cameron.

In the GTLM class, the WeatherTech Racing team showed that they had to be counted on in future 24 Hours of Le Mans (21-22 août). L’écurie américaine a battu les deux Corvette C8.R officielles avec la Porsche 911 RSR semi-officielle, pilotée par le gentleman-driver Cooper MacNeil and factory rider Matt Campbell.

“It certainly wasn't easy at times, explains the Australian. The team always kept me informed and gave me the information I needed to get the fuel mileage we needed to be able to get to the end of the race. We did the work we needed to do. “We haven't had the best races since (victory to) Sebring, and now to get our second win, it's a fantastic result. Especially the way we did it is quite special beating both Corvettes, it's always more difficult. »
