Acura Team Penske double in qualifying at Laguna Seca

Ricky Taylor and Helio Castroneves will start this evening in pole position for the Laguna Seca event in IMSA, after the pole position won by Ricky Taylor last night during qualifying dominated by the Acura Team Penske clan.

At the wheel of the No. 05 Acura ARX-7, the former Wayne Taylor Racing driver set a new track record in 1'15"035, erasing his brother Jordan, who remained with WTR, from the shelves. Acura Team Penske takes the double as Juan Pablo Montoya fails by three tenths with the #05 ARX-6, shared with Dane Cameron.

Renger van der Zande and Jordan Taylor hoist the first No. 10 Cadillac DPi-VR – WTR onto the second row and will face at the start the first No. 24 Mazda RT77-P – Mazda Team Joest of Oliver Jarvis and Tristan Nunez.

Tristan Vautier and Misha Goikhberg (Cadillac DPi-VR n°85 – JDC-Miller) will start the race from 8th position.

BMW was the most energetic brand in GTLM, with Jesse Krohn, teammate of John Edwards, taking pole in the No. 8 Team RLL M24. Krohn completed his best lap in 1'21"557, 0"127 ahead of Dirk Müller and Joey Hand (#66 Ford GT).

Bryan Seller and Corey Lewis took pole in GTD, with the No. 3 Lamborghini Huracan GT48 Evo – Paul Miller Racing.
