Gené: “A perfect workout”

A victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring is not a guarantee of success in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Marc Gené knows this well. Audi?s performance in 2009 is the perfect example. But the Spaniard is pleased with the smooth running of the Florida race, with no major incidents to report, and good driving on a difficult, technical and bumpy track. “ It's a very good preparation for Le Mans both for us drivers and for the whole team., attests Gené. It is perfect training for overtaking on a very demanding track. »

For his part, Alexander Wurz, the trusted man of the 908 n°07, made no mistakes despite a long stint to finish the race. Strong against Sébastien Bourdais (908 n°08), the Austrian was able to retain the reins of the race. “ This is a perfect result for Peugeot who brings his two cars to the finish and the first two places. The victory was decided at the last refueling station even though we had been attacking throughout the race. »

If Gené and Wurz have already won with Peugeot, during the 24 2009 Hours of Le Mans, Anthony Davidson had a thunderous debut for a first collaboration with the Lion firm. The Briton is already on the top step of the podium. “ It's a fantastic day for me and for the entire Peugeot Total Team. I had so much fun driving the 908! It was a very close fight that I enjoyed. I am very happy to have won for my arrival in the team and I thank the whole Team who did a fantastic job »
