Gounon: “The BOP did not allow us to fight for victory”

At Daytona, the Balance of Performance (BOP) was on the lips of a good number of competitors, particularly in the GTLM category. With a more favorable BOP, Corvette achieved a double leaving no chance to its opponents. A detail which did not leave the actors indifferent after the checkered flag.

At Risi Competizione, we had difficulty getting the pill to pass. With a BOP less favorable than that of the Corvettes, the 488 GTE No. 62 tried to defend itself in the first part of the race before gradually disappearing from the fight for victory. In the end, she finished 4th, one lap behind the Americans.

« We gave everything, underlined Frenchman Jules Gounon upon arrival. We have no regrets. We fought with all our weapons. Unfortunately, the BOP did not allow us to fight for victory. We pushed to our limits but it wasn't enough ».

Same story with his teammate Alessandro Pier Guidi, really affected by this performance gap. “ It didn't come down to strategy (at the end) this was just performance. It's quite sad. When you get overtaken in a straight line as if they were DPi you can't do anything about it.

In recent years, it's always the same story. It's a shame there was no BOP adjustment ". It couldn't be clearer.
