Grand-Am – Bob Stallings returns to winning ways in Austin

Already on Friday, John Fogarty had struck a major blow by winning the pole position of the second round of the Grand-Am, on the Circuit of the Americas. The next day, the American and his sidekick once again played a perfect score in the race, taking advantage of the setbacks of Brendon Hartley (Riley-Ford Starworks Motorsports n°8), to achieve their first success in the discipline since the end of 2011.

In reality, the DP Gainsco / Bob Stallings Corvette only led…the last seven laps of the race. A position it seized after Brendon Hartley came into contact with a competitor in the GT category. “It’s great to be back (on the highest step of the podium. Editor’s note), Gurney is jubilant. We finished second several times last year. At the end, the battle with Ryan (Dalziel) and Scott (Pruett) was incredible, and it's a great feeling to have been able to contain them. »

The final podium is completed by the No. 2 Riley-Ford of Starworks Motorsports entrusted to Ryan Dalziel-Alex Popow and by the Riley-BMW Target Chip Ganassi Racing of the undeniable champions Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas. Stéphane Sarrazin, who shares the wheel of the Star Motorsports Corvette DP 8 with Enzo Potolicchio, finishes just off the podium.

With 65 points on the clock, Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas (winners at Daytona) still hold the reins of the general classification ahead of Fogarty-Gurney (59 points) and Dalziel-Popow (57). Thanks to their fourth place, Stéphane Sarrazin and Enzo Potolicchio move up to 5th place.
