GT – McLaren presents the Can-Am MP4-12C

Above all, it is important to understand that this MP4-12C “Can-Am Edition” does not comply with any particular regulations, but that it is above all a concept car which, perhaps, prefigures what will be the GTE version of the McLaren.

Presented on Sunday August 19 at the famous Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach, California, the Can-Am is above all keen to mark its first appearance outside the borders of Europe. Indeed, the English manufacturer has honored its 25 European orders and now intends to attack the world market, including that of the United States.

Derived from the GT3 version that appeared last year, this development benefits from a new electronic calibration and a better cooling system for its 8-liter twin-turbo V3.8 allowing it to explode its power to 630 hp. Conversely, the weight is down, the Englishwoman losing around fifty kilos to stand at 1200 kg dry on the scale.

The aerodynamic package has also evolved, offering a 30% gain in aerodynamic load at high speed thanks to a blade and various front fins, as well as a larger carbon rear wing.

On board, the MP4-12C Can-Am Edition is equipped with two bucket seats with 6-point harnesses and air conditioning.

Patience: in a few days, we will know the follow-up that McLaren will give to this concept car.
