The IMSA General Motors was in Detroit this Saturday, May 30th, for the fifth round of its 2026 season. Only two classes were present on the winding streets of the Motor City: GTP and GTD Pro. At the foot of its Renaissance Center buildings, General Motors had a clean sweep with victories for Earl Bamber and Jack Aitken in the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac in the prototype class, and for Alexander Sims and Antonio Garcia in the No. 3 Corvette Z06.R in GTD Pro.

In the championships, Aitken takes the lead in the GTP Drivers standings with 1,760 points, ahead of Laurin Heinrich (Porsche then JDC-Miller MotorSport), only 11th in Michigan (1,616 points). Frenchman Julien Andlauer (Porsche), winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring earlier in the season, holds third place with his teammate Felipe Nasr (1,606 points). Cadillac leads the Manufacturers' standings with 1,797 points, ahead of Porsche (1,772 points) and Acura (1,676 points).

In GTD Pro, Corvette drivers Nicky Catsburg and Tommy Milner lead the championship with 1,243 points, ahead of BMW drivers Connor De Phillippi and Neil Verhagen (1,225 points). Christopher Mies and Frédéric Vervisch are close behind for Ford with 1,223 points. Chevrolet dominates the manufacturers' championship with 1,412 points. Behind them, BMW and Ford are separated by just four points (1,294 points to 1,290 points).

IMSA's next event is the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen on June 28th.
