IMSA – 38 entered at Petit Le Mans

THEIMSA SportsCar Championship has finally revealed the entry list at Petit Le Mans, final of the 2017 season. No less than 38 cars are expected on the Road Atlanta circuit next week, namely nine prototypes, three PCs, nine GTLMs and 17 GTDs.

The surprise comes from the absence, in the premier category, of Team Penske, which aimed to field an Oreca 07 in order to prepare for the 2018 season, which the Mooresville team will compete with two Acura ARX-05s based, precisely, on the Var LM P2. But it is not yet completely out of the question to see Juan Pablo Montoya & Co at the start in ten days.

On the recruit side, note the presence of Mike conway in the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac Dpi-VR, alongside Dane Cameron and Eric Curran. Ryan Hunter-Reay (Cadillac DPi-VR n°10), Brendon Hartley (Nissan Onroak n°2), Bruno senna (Nissan Onroak no. 22), Julien Canal (Ligier JS P217 no. 52) and Jonathan Bomarito (Ligier JS P217 no. 90) complete the group of luxury freelancers, while the Rebellion Racing will trust the trio Nick Heidfeld-Mathias Beche-Gustavo Menezes.

Absent at Le Mans, Sébastien Bourdais will find his place in the No. 66 Ford GT, on which he will lend a hand to Joey Hand and Dirk Müller. Nick Tandy will support Patrick Pilet and Dirk Werner on the Porsche 911 RSR n°911, while n°912 will see Gianmaria Bruni, Laurens Vanthoor and Earl Bamber take turns.

As a reminder, in Prototype as in GTLM, it will be enough for the duos Jordan Taylor-Ricky Taylor (Cadillac DPi-VR n°10) and Antonio Garcia-Jan Magnussen (Chevrolet Corvette C7.R n°3) to take the start to ensure the crown.
