IMSA – 50 cars expected at the Roar Before the Rolex 24

IMSA has revealed the entry list for the Roar Before the Rolex 24, a dress rehearsal before the 24 Hours of Daytona, the opening round of the American championship.

IMSA – 50 cars expected at the Roar Before the Rolex 24

50 cars are expected to take part in the traditional Roar Before the Rolex 24 (January 5-7), official tests opening the seasonIMSA and preamble to the 24 Hours of Daytona (Florida), contested on January 27 and 28.

The premier prototype category will have twenty entries, with the title holders Wayne Taylor Racing, which will field the trio Jordan Taylor, Renger van der Zande, Ryan Hunter-Reay in the No. 10 Cadillac DPi-VR.

Action Express Racing will count on its two Cadillac DPi-VR n°5 (Barbosa-Fittipaldi-Albuquerque) and n°31 (Curran-Conway-Middleton). Tequila Patron ESM will always trust its two Ligier DPi for Scott Sharp – Ryan Dalziel – Olivier Pla on the n°2, when the n°22 will be entrusted to Johannes van Overbeek, Pipo Derani and Nicolas lapierre.

The two big new features will be to look for from Acura Team Penske, and its two DPi entrusted to the crews Juan Pablo Montoya – Dane Cameron – simon pagenaud et Helio Castroneves – Graham Rahal – Ricky Taylor, and Mazda Team Joest with the two RT24-P DPi driven by Jonathan Bomarito – Spencer Pigot – Harry Tincknell and Oliver Jarvis – Tristan Nunez – René Rast.

Tristan Vautier will take part in the Roar in the Spirit of Daytona's Cadillac DPi-VR. United Autosports, which will line up at the 24 Hours of Daytona Fernando Alonso, has yet to officially confirm the drivers who will compete in the Roar.

The GTD category will be the largest with 21 cars in action. Note the presence of the Grasser Racing Team with two Lamborghini Huracan GT3s on which Mirko Bortolotti and Christian Engelhart, winners in the Blancpain GT Series in 2017, are registered.

In the Porsche clan, Manthey Racing will put on track a 911 GT3 R for Sven Müller, Matteo Cairoli, Harald Proczyk and Steve Smith, while Mathieu Jaminet has been confirmed for Daytona on the Wright Motorsports example with Patrick Long, Christina Nielsen and Robert Renauer.

Scuderia Corsa will field two Ferrari 488 GT3s, while Risi Competizione will also be taking part in the category with a 488 GT3.
