IMSA – Acura unveils the ARX-05

Its official presentation was expected for this Friday evening, French time, but from the start of the day, the first photos of theAcura ARX-05 had leaked on the internet.

The new prototype meeting DPi regulations, developed on an Oreca 07 base, and powered by a 3,5 liter V6 bi-turbo block, was unveiled this Friday and will be exhibited in Monterey in California, on the occasion of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The ARX-05 is distinguished by its front nose featuring Acura's Jewel Eye lighting.

« We created several initial sketches, then narrowed them down to a handful of potential concepts, underlines Dave Marek, creative director of Acura. Then there was the aero model for wind tunnel testing and the engineers had their say.

The design continued to be refined throughout the testing process until reaching a final result that met our performance goals while retaining Acura styling. It's an exciting process. »

Two examples will be entered by Team Penske in IMSA in 2018, from the 24 Hours of Daytona next January, with Juan Pablo Montoya and Dane Cameron already confirmed by the American structure.
