IMSA – BMW maintains its confidence in RLL

Despite competition from certain renowned teams, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing and BMW Motorsport have extended their partnership across the Atlantic. The M8 GTEs engaged in IMSA SportsCar Championship next year will therefore be held under the BMW Team RLL banner. Some engineers from the American entity are also in Munich this month to participate in the assembly of the cars before their shipment to the United States.

« Coming off one of our most prolific joint seasons with BMW, I am delighted that we will continue to work together in the years to come with the ambition of achieving more victories and titles », rejoices the main team Bobby Rahal.

This year, the M6 GTLM scored four victories, bringing to 17 the number of successes gleaned by BMW Team RLL since 2009, for a total of 68 podiums achieved. It's up to the M8 GTE to complete this statistics sheet filled, in nine years of competition, by the M3 GT, the Z4 GTE and the M6 GTLM.

The latest creation of the propeller brand is expected at the Hilliard (Ontario) premises at the end of November, with first tests shortly after and a first public appearance planned during the next collective tests of the IMSA, December 5-6, at Daytona International Speedway.

To find out more about the names of the requisitioned drivers, you will have to wait until December 15, 2017, the date of the traditional BMW Motorsport end-of-season evening.
