IMSA – Di Resta extends with United Autosports for two races

Paul di Resta will be a man in a hurry in 2018. Confirmed by Mercedes in its armada of official DTM drivers, the Scot will also continue his freelance work in Endurance across the Atlantic, in Imsa, and more particularly in the North American Endurance cup (NAEC).

Satisfied by a first participation in an LM P2 at the 24 Hours of Daytona, the former Force India driver in Formula 1 will drive a Ligier JS P217 at the prestigious 12 Hours of Sebring (Florida, March 16-17) as well as 6 Hours of Watkins Glen (New York, June 30-July 1) on behalf of United Autosports. “After the success of Daytona (4th in the general classification after leading the race for a while), I was really piqued by the desire to participate in other events, explains Paul di Resta. This is an unprecedented burden for United Autosports in the Americas, and there is a lot of work to be done. I look forward to seeing where these two races take us. »

Richard Dean, the owner and director of management at United Autosports, is delighted to continue this collaboration. “Paul did a remarkable job at Daytona. Its obligations in DTM make it unavailable for Petit Le Mans but Sebring and Watkins Glen are two great tracks that he will enjoy. »

Paul di Resta will be able to rely on two experienced endurance teammates: Phil Hanson (three seasons in the category despite being 18 years old) and Bruno senna, LM P2 champion in WEC last season. United Autosports announced in January its participation in the NAEC rounds in 2018. However, the change in dates for the 6 Hours of Fuji (Japan) will force Ayrton Senna's nephew to cancel your trip to Petit Le Mans in October. The identity of the replacement is not yet known.
