IMSA – Beautiful people at Mazda Team Joest

Disappointed by the results achieved by its Mazda RT-24Ps this year in IMSA SportsCar Championship, Mazda USA has decided to change its tune. Thus, the unsuccessful chassis of the Riley Mk.30 used was sent back to Multimatic, which has now completely taken charge of this project hitherto managed by Riley Motorsports. To operate its cars, the decision was made to call on Team Joest, the most prolific team in the history ofEndurance and which has made Audi win so much in the four corners of the world and especially in 24 Hours of Le Mans.

But given the level of the Prototype category next year, we had to enlist talented drivers. This is done since the British Oliver Jarvis and Harry Tincknell join as year-round starters the Americans Jonathan Bomarito and Tristan Nuñez, who have been confirmed in their positions. However, Tincknell will have to manage the clash between Mid-Ohio and the 6 Hours of Spa, the weekend of May 5-6, he who was confirmed this morning at Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK in WEC.

In the four NAEC races (24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, 6 Hours of the Glen and Petit Le Mans), the four men will be joined by the German René Rast, champion DTM 2017, and the American Spencer Pigot, seen notably in IndyCar.

« Collaborating with the Joest Racing team, we were able to secure the services of drivers who allowed it to shine recently, rejoices John Doonan, director of Mazda Motorsports North America. Jarvis and Rast are two great recruits, just like Tincknell, who showed what he was capable of, both in GT and in Proto. »

« I am delighted to join Mazda at such an exciting time, welcomes Oliver Jarvis. I have followed the project from the beginning and I am convinced that it can be successful. Taking part in this entire championship has always been one of my goals. »

Rast, for his part, insists that Joest Racing “ is one of the most professional teams I have known. The 24 Hours of Daytona event is one of my favorites and I can't wait to get back on the track. »

Now all that remains is to train the crews.
