IMSA – ESM achieves the feat at the 24 hours of Daytona

ESM signs its first success at the 24 Hours of Daytona after having fought an intense duel in the final hours against Wayne Taylor Racing. It is also the first victory for Ligier and an LMP2 on the Florida double-lap.

The Ligier JS P2 of Derani-Brown-Sharp-van Overbeek took back control of the race less than two hours from the finish, helped by Luis Felipe Derani imperial at the wheel of the LMP2 who managed to catch up with the prototype with green livery which suffered a drive-through. The No. 2 is 26 seconds ahead of the No. 10 Corvette of R. Taylor-J. Taylor-Angelelli-Barrichello. The #90 Visitflorida Racing car of Dalziel-Goossens-Hunter Reay completed the podium in the winner's lap.

Corvette signs a double in GTLM with the victory of Galvin-Milner-Fässler who wins by a few thousandths ahead of the sister car led by Magnussen-Garcia-Rockenfeller after a hotly contested duel in the final laps between the two crews. There Porsche No. 912 of Bamber-Makowiecki-Christensen completes the category podium.

The LMPC category was dominated by the victorious #85 of Miller-Simpson-Goikhberg-Koch, but it still finished well behind the top GTDs. The verdict of the latter was only known in the final minutes due to the Lamborghini of Ineichen-Willsey-Konrad-Babini-Basseng of Konrad Motorsport running out of fuel. First place ultimately went to the #44 Magnus Racing Audi driven by Potter-Lally-Seefried-Rast.
