IMSA – Gianmaria Bruni ready for Porsche debut at Watkins Glen
Gianmaria Bruni will take her first steps with Porsche by competing in the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen (New York) held on July 2. The triple winner at Le Mans with Ferrari could not hope to achieve another success at the Sarthe event due to contract problems linking him to the Italian manufacturer, but the 2011 champion of Le Mans Series will finally be able to take the wheel again.
The new Porsche recruit will therefore drive the No. 911 912 RSR alongside Laurens Vanthoor, Patrick Pilet and Dirk Werner racing in the sister car. The German cars will face the Corvette C7Rs of Magnussen-Garcia and Gavin-Milner, the BMW M6 GTLMs of Edwards-Tomczyk and Auberlen-Sims and the Ford GTs of Müller-Hand and Briscoe-Westbrook.
The Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 is absent from the entry list following the collision suffered by Pierre Kaffer at the 24 Hours of Le Mans last weekend with the TDS Racing Oreca 07 driven by Matthieu Vaxivière. The American team could miss the next three races of theIMSA.
