IMSA – Juan Pablo Montoya driving the Acura ARX-05 at Road Atlanta

Officially presented last week on the sidelines of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California, theAcura ARX-05 returned to the track at Road Atlanta (Georgia) to begin testing on the American continent.

The prototype, developed on the basis of the Oreca 07 by Acura Motorsports, Team Penske and HPD, was entrusted for the occasion to the Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya, one of two drivers already confirmed for the 2018 season in IMSA with Dane Cameron. This session follows the shakedown carried out at Paul-Ricard earlier in the summer.

« Overall it was a good test, comments Matthew Niles, project manager at Honda Performance Development. We were close to the total solar eclipse, and we had to stop driving for a few moments, with the sun obscured. We then continued the runs to complete our entire program and we believe that we have a good basis for progress. »

As we indicated last week in issue 2128 of AUTOhebdo, Team Penske must field an Oreca 07 in the last round of the 2017 season at Petit Le Mans, in order to best prepare for his 2018 campaign in the American series.
