IMSA – The 2018 calendar revealed

As previously announced by theIMSA, the main change in the 2018 calendar of the American endurance championship comes from the return of Mid-Ohio to the program, alongside the eleven other events registered for the next season across the Atlantic.

The return of the series to the Lexington track will take place from May 4 to 6, and will feature the three classes remaining in 2018, namely the Prototypes, GTLM and GTD, with the PC disappearing from the field. Mid-Ohio thus replaces the race held on the Circuit of the Americas in Texas, which is largely absent from the next calendar.

In addition to these two modifications, the season will open again at the 24 Hours of Daytona in Florida (January 25-28), after the official tests of the Roar Before the Rolex 24 (January 5-7). The 12 Hours of Sebring will follow immediately (March 14-17), the two events constituting the new 36 Hours of Florida.

These two rounds will again be part of the North American Endurance Cup, with Watkins Glen (New York) (June 28 – July 1) and Petit Le Mans (October 10-13). Note that only the Prototypes and the GTLMs will compete in the Long Beach (California) race in 2018 on April 13 and 14, while the GTLMs will be absent in Detroit on June 1 and 2.

The two GT categories, however, will be the only ones lined up at the start of the rounds at Lime Rock (Connecticut) (July 20-21) and VIRginia International Raceway (August 17-19).
