IMSA – Wayne Taylor Racing from last to first in Detroit

Wayne Taylor Racing took its 5th consecutive victory in IMSA and remains undefeated this year with the Cadillac DPi of Jordan and Ricky Taylor. However, the No. 10 started on the last row after an exit from Ricky Taylor in qualifying. The latter climbed up to 5th position during his stint before Jordan took control of the race.

The #31 Whelen Engineering Racing car was the best rival for victory, but Cameron-Curran lost out 5 seconds behind. Long-Miller's No. 70 Mazda DPi completed the podium, more than half a minute behind the winners. The No. 5 Mustang Sampling Racing Cadillac of Barbosa-Fittipaldi started from pole and took 4th place ahead of the No. 55 Mazda of Bomarito-Nunez.

In PC, Pato O'Ward and James French scored another victory in the No. 38 of Performance Tech Motorsports. Andy Lally and Katherine Legge won in GTD in the No. 3 Acura NSX GT93 of Michael Shank Racing.

The race was marked by the clash between the Mercedes-AMG GT3 No. 75 SunEnergy of Kenny Habul which collided with the No. 30 Riley Mk90 of VisitFlorida Racing of Renger van der Zande after encountering a brake problem. The only yellow flag of the event was displayed less than half an hour from the finish.
