Luis Felipe Derani took pole position for the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen in IMSA. Ford dominated the session in GTLM.

IMSA – Pipo Derani places ESM on pole at Watkins Glen

Aligned with the Ligier-Onroak DPi-Nissan n°2 of the Tequila Patron ESM, Luis Philip Derani was the fastest during the qualifying session for the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen, also counting for the North American Endurance Cup

The Brazilian completed a lap in 1'34″405 and took first position on the starting grid, ahead of Frenchman Olivier Pla (PR162/Mathiasen Motorsports – Ligier) by 1 thousandths. The first No. 5 Cadillac DPi-VR – Action Express Racing of Barbosa – Fittipaldi – Albuquerque will start from the second row alongside the No. 10 Cadillac DPi-VR – Wayne Taylor Racing of the Taylor brothers. Johannes van Overbeek and Bruno Senna complete the top 5 at the wheel of the No. 22 Ligier-Onroak DPi-Nissan – Tequila Patron ESM.

Largely dominating during free practice, the French – O'Ward – Masson trio once again took the advantage in the PC category, with the No. 09 Oreca FLM38 of Performance Tech Motorsports during these qualifications.

Ford has risen to the forefront in GTLM, avec la Ford GT n°66 du Chip Ganassi Racing de Joey Hand et Dirk Müller, meilleur chrono en 1’42″507, trois dixièmes devant les deux BMW M6 – Team RLL n°25 de Auberlen – Sims et n°24 d’Edwards – Tomczyk, et la Ford GT n°67 de Briscoe – Westbrook. Patrick Pilet et Dirk Werner débuteront la course en cinquième position en GTLM avec la première Porsche 911 RSR n°911.

Acura NSX GT3 n°93 – Michael Shank Racing de Lally – Legge took pole in GTD. The 6 Hours of Watkins Glen race will start at 10:10 a.m. local time, 16:10 p.m. French time.
