IMSA – PR1/Mathiasen and Ford on pole at Lime Rock Park

The qualifying session held yesterday in Connecticut turned to the advantage of Tom Kimber-Smith and Robert Alon, residents of PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports, defending champion at Lime Rock Park.

But it's Colin braun, lined up at the wheel of the Oreca FLM09 from the CORE Autosport team, which had set the best time of the session in 48 "824 (new track record), giving him a third pole in 2016, and the second in a row. But a change of driver for the start of the race (Jon Bennett will start the event) will deprive CORE Autosport of the preferential position when the lights go out. The front row will be completed by James French and Kyle Marcelli in the No. 09 Performance Tech Motorsports Oreca FLM38.

In GTLM, Ford once again dominated the debates with the #67 Ford GT of Ryan Briscoe and Richard Westbrook, the latter signing his second pole of the season in 50″748. Dirk Werner, entered in the No. 6 BMW M25 of Team RLL, failed at 86 thousandths, and was ahead of championship leader Tommy Milner (No. 7 Corvette C4.R). Giancarlo Fisichella and Toni Vilander (Ferrari 488 – Risi Competizione) will follow on the grid, while the first Porsche 911 RSR from the PIlet – Tandy duo will start in seventh position in the category.

In GTD, pole position went to the Change Racing Lamborghini Huracan of Corey Lewis and Spencer Pumpelly ahead of the two Audi R8 LMS from Stevenson Motorsports.
