IMSA – Rebellion and Oreca on pole at Sebring

Favorites for qualifying for the 12 Hours of Sebring, the Cadillac DPi-VRs failed to counter Rebellion Racing's No. 07 Oreca 13. But let's not forget that at Daytona, the Americans hid their game and achieved better times in the race.

Still, history will remember that Neel Jani gave Oreca and Rebellion Racing pole position for the 65th edition of the Florida clock, thanks to a time of 1'48"178. The Swiss, who shares the wheel with his compatriot Sébastien Buemi and the German Nick Heidfeld, was ahead of the No. 0 and No. 095 Action Express Racing Cadillacs led by Christian Fittipaldi and Dane Cameron by 0 and 136. The top five is completed by the Ligier JS P5 of PR31/Mathiasen (+217 »1) and Nissan Onroak DPi n°0 (+878 »22).

Unsurprisingly, Ford ruled the roost in GTLM. Ryan Briscoe's #67, in 1'55"939, took pole position ahead of its sister car, Dirk Müller's #66. In third place, we find the Corvette C7.R of Tommy Milner, who only conceded 0. The first one Porsche 911 RSR, the No. 912 of Kévin Estre, failed just one breath behind the American. The fastest BMW M6 GTLM, the No. 25 of Nicky Catsburg, is eleventh at 0”5, while the Ferrari 488 GTE n°62 of Giancarlo Fisichella brings up the rear, at 1”8.

Author of a lap of the Florida track in 1'59"738, Tristan Vautier took pole position in GTD at the wheel of Mercedes AMG GT3 from SunEnergy1 Racing. The Frenchman was 0" ahead of the No. 9 Land-Motorsport Audi R8 LMS, entrusted for the occasion to Connor de Philippi, and by 29" the No. 1 Lamborghini Huracan GT2 of Corey Lewis, entered by the Change Racing.

In PC, the best time was achieved by the Colombian Gustavo Yacaman, aboard the Oreca 09 FLM operated by BAR 1 Motorsports.

The start of the 65th edition of the 12 Hours of Sebring, second round of theIMSA, will be given tomorrow at 15:50 p.m. (in France).
