Aside from Le Mans, Sebring, and Daytona, there aren't many other places besides Detroit where Cadillac dreams of shining as brightly. With a circuit laid out in a series of right angles along the streets adjacent to General Motors' Renaissance Center, the American manufacturer is practically racing on home turf. A victory in Motor City is therefore a special moment, as was the case this Saturday with Earl Bamber and Jack Aitken's triumph in the No. 31 Action Express Racing V-Series.R.

« My team did an absolutely perfect job, and to achieve this here, in the birthplace of GM and Cadillac, with so many friends and family members by our side… it’s hard to imagine anything better. Aitken said on Saturday after the victory. This is a victory we've been seeking for quite some time. With so many people involved in the program here, it has taken on a whole new dimension. It's quite overwhelming, but incredible. »

« I've already had the chance to find myself in this situation several times, but on a street circuit in particular, you really have to stay focused and keep attacking, maintain the pace without thinking too far ahead. Aitken added. Honestly, we know there's a good chance that a neutralization will bring the whole pack back together and turn the end of the race into a real knife fight. »

« I tried not to get too carried away with the future. he continued. But in the third sector of the last lap, I allowed myself to realize: “This is going to be something really special!” »

As good fortune never comes alone, this result, combined with the poor performance of Laurin Heinrich (11th with Tijmen van der Helm on the Porsche (JDC-Miller MotorSport customer), allows Jack Aitken to take the lead in the championship before the next event of the season: the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen, on June 28.
