Jarvis and Bourdais put Mazda and Ford on pole at Mid-Ohio

Oliver Jarvis set a new Mid-Ohio track record during Imsa qualifying, while Sébastien Bourdais beat Laurens Vanthoor after a thrilling duel.

Jarvis and Bourdais put Mazda and Ford on pole at Mid-Ohio

Spectators at the American circuit in Mid-Ohio (Ohio) witnessed the establishment of a new record for the 3,86 km long track. This Saturday, May 4, Oliver Jarvis achieved a time of 1'10''705, enough to place his Mazda RT24-P DPi in pole position for the event Imsa scheduled for Sunday. 

 

The Briton, however, tightened his engine during his last timed lap! “The engine died two turns from the end,” revealed Oliver Jarvis. Placed in his aspiration, Helio Castroneves (Acura) had to move urgently and thus lost valuable time. The Brazilian will start from second place. 

In GTLM, Sébastien Bourdais (Ford) et Laurens Vanthoor (Porsche) engaged in a superb duel. The Frenchman and the Belgian exchanged the possession of pole several times, until the Sarthois definitively took the advantage by 275 thousandths. 

Called up for the third time in 2019 by the team Chip Ganassi to replace Joey Hand, still recovering from a virus, Sébastien Bourdais took fourth place in Long Beach (California). Can he do better in Ohio? The race will begin on Sunday at 19h French time.
