Joest Racing and Mazda, it's officially over

Unsurprisingly, Joest Racing will no longer be in charge of operating the RT24-Ps in the IMSA SportsCar Championship, a task now entirely assigned to Multimatic.

Joest Racing and Mazda, it's officially over

As we have mentioned on various occasions in our columns, Mazda and Joest Racing will no longer make common cause in the future. The two entities were supposed to separate after the 12 Hours of Sebring, but the Florida event having been postponed from March 21 to November 14, the divorce was formalized today.

The members of the famous German entity were already no longer numerous within the team last January, when the No. 77 from Pla-Nunez-Jarvis finished second in the 24 Hours of Daytona. But now, the RT24-Ps will be completely covered by Multimatic Motorsports, the operating arm of Multimatic, to whom we owe the car.

The crews, however, remain unchanged, namely that Jonathan Bomarito and Harry Tincknell will continue to operate on the No. 55, and will be accompanied at the 6 Hours of the Glen, in Petit Le Mans and at the 12 Hours of Sebring by Ryan Hunter-Reay. On the No. 77, this role of freelancer is taken on by Toulouse's Olivier Pla, who lends a hand to the incumbents: Oliver Jarvis and Tristan Nunez.
