IMSA expects a regulation “consistent with its philosophy”

Linked for several years with the Automobile Club de l'Ouest and the FIA, theIMSA currently welcomes the LM P2 prototypes within its premier category alongside the DPi.

The reaction of the American authorities was expected after the presentation of the future 2020 technical regulations for the premier category of WEC and 24 Hours of Le Mans, which will turn to hybrid prototypes based on the manufacturers' hypercars.

If no common rapprochement has been outlined for this future class, IMSA wishes to continue its collaboration with the ACO and the FIA. “Creating new regulations for a vehicle of this level of sophistication is an enormous task and today's announcement marks an important and positive step, specifies IMSA.

It is a work in progress. And while much progress has been made, there is still much to do. We look forward to continuing to work closely in the coming months, collaborating with the ACO and FIA and our existing prototype partners, to confirm a viable cost structure for prototype competition.

IMSA continues its commitment to providing attractive opportunities for manufacturers and teams to compete in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar with a sustainable business model.

The priority for IMSA is that future regulations are consistent with the core elements and philosophy that have made our existing platform so successful.

We remain committed to our strategic partnership with the ACO for the future growth and success of sports car racing around the world. »
