The Corvette C8.R is revealed

Will this C8.R be a rocket on the track? It is too early to say, but the latest addition to the GM group brand was presented near the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral in Florida at the same time as the convertible version of the road-going Corvette Stingray.

The “vette” developed by Pratt&Miller features an engine in the rear central position for the first time, after an eternity spent relying on the front engine. We do not yet know the exact architecture of this block, even if the V8 should logically be retained.

The different Corvettes have reached the summits of GT, notably at 24 Hours of Le Mans or even on stage IMSA at Daytona or Sebring in GTE / GTLM.

Sporting a yellow-silver livery, particularly reminiscent of the 1973 Chevrolet Aerovette and the 1959 Corvette Stingray Racer, this C8.R is expected to debut in competition in 2020 at the next 24 Hours of Daytona, the opening of the IMSA.
