The Viper, back in ALMS

SRT unveiled yesterday, at the New York Motor Show, its latest creation, the 2013 Viper. At the same time, the American manufacturer announced its return to competition in the ALMS championship, with a GTS-R , starting this year. The car will be developed in partnership with Riley Technologies.

On the drivers side, the German Dominik Farnbacher, who finished second in the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2006 in GT and who won? Asian Le Mans Series in 2009 at the wheel of a Ferrari F430, will be lined up alongside the Belgian Marc Goossens and the Canadian Kuno Wittmer.

At the beginning of the 2000s, the Viper made its mark by winning numerous victories in championships.Endurance world championships, particularly in FIA GT and ALMS. Prepared by Oreca, the GTS-R notably won the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 1998 to 2000 (in GT2 then GTS). But it can also boast of a victory in the general classification of the 24 Hours of Daytona, without forgetting its successes at the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring and the 24 Hours of Spa. “Racing is an integral part of Viper?s illustrious history, not only through its victories on the track, but also in the continuity of the development of road cars, underlines Ralph Gilles, President and CEO of Street and Racing Technology Brand and Motorsports.
