Chip Ganassi on the front row at the 24 Hours of Daytona

Chip Ganassi Racing shone in qualifying for the 24 Hours of Daytona by placing its two BMW-RIleys on the front row. Konrad Motorsport took pole in GT.

Scott Pruett was the fastest in qualifying for the 24 Hours of Daytona. By achieving a time of 1'40"553, the driver of Chip Ganassi's No. 01 BMW-Riley secured pole with a tenth ahead of the sister car driven by Scott Dixon. “We knew we had a good balance with the car but I knew we had to be on the attack”, commented the pole sitter. “I don't know how many years I'm going to do this, so I'll see if I can start at the front. »

If the No. 02 BMW of Chip Ganassi Racing did not take pole, the solid crew of Scott Dixon, Dario Franchitti, Joey Hand, Jamie McMurray and Scott Pruett promises. The double champion ofIndyCar quickly found his bearings behind the wheel of the DP despite the problems encountered. “The qualifying session was my very first session of the week behind the wheel. We had a lot of problems with management and all sorts of things and we weren't really comfortable. I'm surprised I'm only a tenth behind. Dane Cameron placed the #42 BMW-Riley of Team Sahlen (where simon pagenaud) in third place with a delay of seven tenths on the reference time. Rounding out the top five are the No. 6 Michael Shank Racing Ford-Riley of Cumming-Goncalvez-Valiante-Yacaman and the No. 90 Spirit of Daytona DP Corvette of Garcia-Gavin-Taylor-Westbrook. Behind the second Michael Shank Racing Ford-Riley of Wilson-Allmendinger-Ambrose-Negri Jr-Pew, the No. 2 Starworks Ford-Riley with Bourdais-Dalziel-McNish-Popow is seventh on the grid. The No. 3 8Star Motorsports Corvette DP driven by Minassian-Sarrazin-Davidson-Lamy-Potolicchio is ninth.

Nick Tandy won his first pole in GT at the 24 Hours of Daytona with a time of 1'47"631 achieved on the Porsche GT3 n°32 from Konrad Motorsport. Andy Lally failed by two tenths in the #44 Magnus Racing Porsche. Sean Edwards completes the class leading trio in the No. 32 Momo/NGT Motorsport Porsche. Shane Lewis became the first pole in the new GX category with a time of 1'54 in the No. 606 Napleton Racing Cayman.
