Core Autosport wins at Mosport

Jon Bennett and Colin Braun scored their first victory in the Prototype category of theIMSA by winning the Mosport race held at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Ontario. While Core Autosport's Oreca 07 was due to start on pole, it started at the back of the Prototype pack after a driver change for the first stint.

The 2016 Prototype Challenge champions took the lead in the race thanks in particular to a great attack from Colin Braun at the end of the race who took the advantage over the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-VR entrusted to Jordan Taylor, Renger van der Zande's teammate.

Felipe Nasr and Eric Curran rounded out the podium in the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac DPi, while the Top 5 was rounded out by No. 5 Felipe Albuquerque and Christian Fittipaldi and the No. 005 Acura ARX-7 of Team Penske driven by Ricky Taylor and Helio Castroneves.

Team Joest was able to salvage a sixth place with the No. 77 Mazda DPi of Oliver Jarvis and Tristan Nunez after the sister car retired following an exit from the track by Harry Ticknell. The Japanese driver preceded the No. 07 JDC-Miller Motorsports Oreca 99 of Goikhberg-Simpson which was victorious last weekend at the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen (New York).

In GTLM, victory went to the No. 67 Ford GT of Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe. The 42-year-old Briton took advantage of an interruption in the race to make a final stop and resisted the pressure of the two Corvette C7Rs which completed the top three in the category, the n°3 of Magnussen-Garcia having beaten the No. 4 of Gavin-Milner. There Porsche 911 RSR No. 911 from Tandy-Pilet took fourth place ahead of the second Ford GT driven by Hand-Müller.

Team Riley Motorsports took the GTD victory with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°33 from Keating-Bleekemolen.
