US motorsport mourned by the death of Emilio di Guida

Emilio di Guida died of a heart attack at the age of 50. This Venezuelan was recognized in the paddocks of American endurance races which he frequented since 2011. The native of Caracas took his first steps in ALMS at the wheel of a Porsche 997 GT3 Cup from the TRG team, notably winning two victories in the GTC category the following season. The South American also distinguished himself in Grand-Am by reaching a milestone last year when he took the wheel of a Corvette DP entered by 8Star Motorsports and took part in testing for the 24 hours of Daytona in an LMPC from the stable of Enzo Potolicchio.

The Venezuelan began his motorsport career in 1992 in national GT Junior, a discipline where he won the title after three seasons. Emilio di Guida then moved to a Camaro then a Neon to compete in the Venezuelan Chrysler Neon Cup which he won in 1999 before then winning in the national Chevrolet Aveo Cup.
