For the arrival of the LMDh which will race in the GTP category on the other side of the Atlantic from 2023, IMSA made the choice to innovate, or rather to go back, for the 24 2023 Hours of Daytona (January 28-29). From next year, it will no longer be a 100-minute qualifying race held on the Sunday before the start, the famous “Roar Before the Rolex 24”, to determine the starting grid.

For 61e edition of the double floridian clock tower, theIMSA announced the return to a so-called “traditional” qualifying format already used during all the other rounds of the season. Therefore, competitors will have to achieve the best possible time in a 15 or 20 minute slot depending on the category. Please note that they will be separated by class. No change regarding the day since these qualifications will take place the previous weekend.

The new qualifying rounds for the 24 Hours of Daytona are scheduled for Sunday, January 22 at 19:25 p.m. (French time). As a reminder, 5 test sessions are also on the program for this 61e edition of the Florida classic.
