IMSA changes for 2020

THEIMSA will make changes to its technical and sporting regulations for the next season.

The organizers have tightened the rules regarding the training of LMP2 crews. A Bronze driver will be mandatory for each crew. Additionally, Platinum drivers will be banned, with the exception of the 24 Hours of Daytona (January 25-26) where one Platinum driver will be allowed.

IMSA has confirmed that the 24 Hours of Daytona will not count towards the LMP2 championship, but that teams and drivers could still score points in the Michelin Endurance Cup

The GTD category will now take place at Long Beach (April 18) which will serve as the opener for the 8-event WeatherTech Sprint Cup.

Driving times per driver will be defined for each category before the event.

The 2020 season will begin from January 3 to 5 with the Roar before the 24, the Daytona tests preceding the 58th edition.
