The Bavarian brand even scored a one-two in qualifying, as the No. 25 of Sheldon van der Linde and Marco Wittmann will start from second position on the grid. Behind it, the two Porsche Penske works cars share the second row, while the Meyer Shank Racing Acuras will start in fifth and sixth positions. Seventh and ninth, the two Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillacs seem to be in slight difficulty on the Californian streets. They surround the #85 JDC Miller Motorsports Porsche on the grid, while theAston Martin Valkyrie closes the march with the tenth fastest time in GTP, 1 seconds from pole position.
« “A big thank you to the team and BMW for giving us a great car to start the weekend here,” said Vanthoor. This is the third pole of the year, but I think it's time to conclude We have not yet capitalized and brought home a victory. It was fun, but I think a race win will be a little more rewarding."
In the GTD category, it was once again the No. 12 Lexus of Vasser Sullivan Racing that took pole position, ahead of "Rexy," the No. 177 Porsche of AO Racing. With Long Beach restricted to the GTD category in GT3, the green Porsche, usually entered in GTD Pro, was therefore changing categories. Missing the fiftieth anniversary of the legendary Californian event was out of the question for PJ Hyett's team.
The race will start this Saturday at 23:05 p.m., for 100 minutes, making it the shortest race of the 2025 season.IMSA.
